Hauck proposed refinements to Sorenson's model,^[1] but one reviewer considered his alterations too radical to be mere refinements, and on the ten essential points discussed here found it vastly inferior to Sorenson's model.^[2]

Real world suggested correlates in this model:

• Narrow neck of land - no isthmus connection, but considers it a "narrow corridor"
• River Sidon - Usamacinta River
• Hill Ramah/Cumorah -  ^{[needs work]}

A major criticism of Hauck's model involves the requirement of two areas named Bountiful in the new world.^[3] Given the problems outlined in reviews, this model has not gained much traction among LDS scholars, though it served as a spur for further work.
