Summary: Joseph Smith's First Vision has attracted many critics of the Church. The accounts are said to be inconsistent with one another and many details are said to be anachronistic to individual accounts. What's more, critics have challenged the First Vision on other historical grounds and have alleged that there are theological and scriptural problems with Joseph Smith having a vision that inaugurated the Restoration. Especially former members of the Church have had problems with how former leaders of the Church have handled at least one of the accounts of the First Vision.
